"Watch" Update:
NEW 5/3/2009 : May 23rd, still and promotional photography to begin. Principal photography will start in the 2 weeks following.

"Watch," the first short to be produced and distributed by Scary Clown Productions, will be starting principal photography in a few weeks. Ron Smith will direct and the pricipal roles will be filled by TJ Jordan (And She Was Recorded- The Basement Tapes) and Victoria Faiella (Host of IndiMusic TV, Mindfreak). Also cast are Jeffree Appisson (As The World Turns, All My Children), Michele Musé, and Jeff Gape. The script was penned by Ron as well. The film will be shot using 2 EX1's and Letus Extreme 35mm Adapter (technical details apt to change by shoot time.) Also on board: Steve Divins, Jennifer Ennis and Mike Ennis. Most positions are filled, but the production is still looking for assistants and talented production people as well as viral marketers and designers.

When asked about the production details, Ron Smith, president of SCP, said this: "We're working on the final details as far as schedule and budget now and principal photography should start right after Memorial Day. However, I made sure that everything was as flexible as possible - not an easy thing to do - just in case we run into any unforseen problems. Anything can happen, even on a small shoot like this. So if you can work in flexibility and still stay on a final schedule, use it to your advantage."

"Watch" will be edited for festival time contraints on a PC based system using Premiere and AE. The film will first make the festival rounds and then will most likely be available for download on the new VOD system being implemented here on scaryclownproductions.com along with extras ONLY available here. You can check out www.watchtheshort.com or check back right here for details.

New Ideas and New Faces:
SCP has started development with a "to be named" company on a new pilot for a show entitled "The Miracle Diaries." There's not too much to go on yet and SCP has asked that I keep it under wraps for a bit but I guarantee it's a solid project with amazing potential.

"Bad Physics" (www.badphysicstv.com) is currently being re-tooled. "The original idea and script was good but it was rushed. I think we may go in an entirely new direction with this one" says SCP President Ron Smith. "I would rather take my time and put out a quality, salable product than rush to get out something sub-standard." Originally "Bad Physics" was going to be a bit like "Mythbusters" and "Destroyed In Seconds" but now the project is doing a 360 thanks to new writers. "I'm looking forward to seeing what these new "until recently known" writers do with the idea." said Mr. Smith.

"Coming Back," originally slated for the summer of this year, has been delayed due to the recent burst in growth of SCP. Instead, SCP is focusing on getting its VOD services up and running, along with its other productions that have started to take precedence. Projects like "Watch" - a short film about a nurse that befriends a schizophrenic homeless man and attempts to reunite him with his long lost brother. When asked about the state of the two films, SCP President Ron Smith said "Coming Back was my pet project a couple of years ago. A lot went into the script and character development and I plan on shooting it - just not until the new year." He continued "Watch is a simple story - almost as dark and tragic as Coming Back - that can be shot on a 'below no budget' budget, and hopefully make it's way into the festival circle before the fall and help get the SCP name out there." You can check this site and the blog at **** for updated information about "Coming Back" and "Watch."

Out With The Old, In With The New:
Nobody likes to get divorced but sometimes it's necessary. Scary Clown Productions and Gorbs Corp. have broken all ties with Modern Voices Distribution in the creation of "IndiMusic TV." Because the subsidiary company of Modern Voices Pictures, Inc. is currently controlled by its parent company Gorbs Corp., it will have nothing to do with the production of IMTV - a TV show and web presence originally co-developed, supported and co-produced by Gorbs Corp. and its owner, Ron Smith. When contacted about it, Mr. Smith could not comment further on that particular subject due to on-going litigation. However, he did say "Sometimes you get involved with people you just shouldn't. Lesson learned." New relationships and projects that were put aside for the creation of IMTV are now starting to flourish and SCP looks forward to re-tooling the show as "The Indie Music Network" (www.theindiemusicnetwork.com - website is currently under reconstruction and links to the original IMTV site) in the near future and releasing it as a series of webisodes with the possibility of placing it back on TV. "Not sure yet where it's going to go until we have more interest." Says Mr. Smith, "Even though (IndiMusic TV) was very successful in it's first season, I'm not sure if it's really the direction SCP should go - but it does remain an option."

The Showbiz Expo:
After a very long day at the Showbiz Expo in NYC last week, our people are still out and about meeting, greeting and networking with some of the greatest people in the industry. We were able to meet some great actors and actresses as well as a slew of production people and companies who really make this industry a pleasure to work in. Next year Scary Clown Productions plans to take a booth to promote it's new distribution arm (coming soon!) and to raise the capital and enhance the relationships necessary to operate successfully in today's lean market.

Working Out Of The Box:

SCP has taken a step into the real world of independent film and decided to develop and produce projects outside the horror genre. "The horror genre has a faithful following but we don't want to be pigeonholed into just one specific type of production." Says President and CEO R. Scott Smith. "Scary Clown started as a strictly selfish way of getting my own work produced, but now it's growing far beyond that, with multiple projects in different genres and new people coming on board with tremendous talent and resources." Now, SCP is in the process of developing an online delivery system dedicated to those films that are getting lost in the fold. "To find a good movie - I mean a really good independent film created outside the mainstream - on say, Youtube, you need to search and search among thousands of other videos that generally don't have anything to do with what you're really searching for. Not to mention that even with the new capabilities of HD delivery, the quality is just sub-par" SCP plans to include not only features and shorts, but also DVD type extras and pilots - along with media kits, all prescreened for quality control by the SCP staff. It's not just for the casual movie viewer but also for the agents, distributors and other professionals looking for the whole package. Mr. Smith plans on having the entire online distribution arm up and running within 6 months. "I feel that, although there are adequate sites for VOD and artist promotion, so much more can be done to streamline the process and really get our stuff, and that of the independent filmmaker, out there and seen - and hopefully make a little money in the process!"

Editor's note: Some of SCP's up and coming projects that are "out of the box" are:
